Madelynn Hirneise is a bold, visionary and deeply compassionate nonprofit leader stepping into an exciting new chapter as the President and CEO of Meals on Wheels Orange County. She brings heartfelt energy, innovative leadership and an unwavering commitment to serving older adults with dignity, care and connection. In this new role, Madelynn is helping lead a new era for the organization, one focused on expanding access to nutritious meals, meaningful human connection and the essential support older adults need to thrive independently in this ever-changing world.
“Meals on Wheels Orange County has long been a trusted lifeline for older adults and their families throughout Orange County,” said Madelynn. “I’m honored to step into the role of CEO and build on this incredible foundation, expanding our reach so even more seniors feel supported, connected and cared for in the community they call home.”
Prior to joining Meals on Wheels Orange County, Madelynn dedicated 14 years to Families Forward, serving as CEO for half her tenure, working to transform Orange County’s efforts to prevent and end family homelessness. Under her leadership, the organization more than doubled the number of families and individuals served, reaching more than 18,000 people in 2025 alone. She championed innovative programs including The Community Market, a dignified, client choice food pantry model that empowers families while meeting essential needs. She also expanded prevention focused initiatives and housing partnerships that created long term stability for thousands across the community.
What truly sets Madelynn apart is her ability to lead with both vision and heart. Her leadership journey began on the frontlines as a Housing Resource Administrator with Families Forward, giving her a deep understanding of the challenges families face and the life changing impact compassionate support can provide. Today, she is widely recognized as a trusted voice and advocate for prevention first solutions that strengthen communities and create opportunities for lasting stability.
As housing security emerges as the leading priority in the OC Cares Master Plan for Aging, Madelynn’s experience addressing housing and financial instability will bring valuable expertise to Meals on Wheels OC’s efforts to serve older adults throughout Orange County.
Before her nonprofit leadership career, Madelynn served in the Peace Corps in rural Guatemala, where she trained local women to become community health educators in their native Mayan language, an experience that deeply shaped her belief in the power of human connection, service and community care.
Madelynn’s leadership has been recognized across the region, earning her honors such as Orange County’s Most Influential by The Orange County Register, Inspirational Women in Business by the Los Angeles Times, and 40 Under 40 by the Greater Irvine Chamber.
